Last Saturday in September

OK, so I'm not going to Melbourne next week, and I really was looking forward to it. Finishing 3rd again wasn't good, but I love the game as much as the team so I am still looking forward to the Grand Final. A mate of mine gets a data projector and we fill the lounge room wall with the replay! Where will you be?

I don't care who wins, although if the Eagles get it out of their system then they'll be a bit easier to beat next year.

Footy finals in Melbourne?

I had a mate email me from the US saying he'd be in Melbourne the first week in September and wants to go to a footy match. At first I jumped at it but then as I started explaining the finals I realised there may not be any footy in Melbourne in the qualifying finals.

Eight teams go into the finals, so there are 4 games on the first finals weekend. Teams finishing in the top 4 get a home game. Games are usually played in sequence.
Fri night - 1st Qualifying Final Fourth vs Fifth
Sat after - 2nd Qualifying Final Third vs Sixth
Sat night - 3rd Qualifying Final Second vs Seventh
Sun after - 4th Qualifying Final First vs Eigth
So the Crows may play in Adelaide on Sunday afternoon, or on Sat night. Sydney are playing well and likely to get a home final too! West Coast will get a home final.
So, there could be only 1 game on in Melbourne that weekend and it may be Fri night.
If Freemantle finishes 4th, they will also play at home in WA and there'll be no games in Melbourne for the first time in history! Yes, they will allow it.

2 teams get eliminated after the weekend. There will be 4 losing teams. The 2 teams that finsihed lower on the ladder will be finished for the season, taking 6 teams into next week.

What a fabulous weekend for footy ... but maybe not in Melbourne :)

I'll be down at AAMI stadium! I don't know where my mate from the US will be!

Tippers Nightmare

My tippers nightmare is that I was streets ahead of a couple of mates and now they're catching up. It's not the 20 year old scotch or the bottle of Penfolds Grange that I was hoping to get out of them, its the fact that I've had bragging rights for most of the season and couldn't help rubbing it in.

Getting too close for comfort ... now Hawthorn v Carlton, who would've thought I cared who won that one. Go the Blues!

Horny Warney

I read in the paper that Warney has had 1000 women - that's about twice a week for 10 years. That's about average isn't it? Well I guess it is if you have a good relationship and a steady partner. Problem with Warney is they say its with 1000 different women!

Where does he find a mobile phone that can store 1000 phone numbers????

State of Origin

That was a great game, and Queensland rallied after those dubious NSW tries. 54,000 at the G, and weren't they yelling! Anyone would think it was a rugby football state not the home of 50% of the national AFL comp.

Loved it on TV, but by the crowd it sounded like it would have been fantastic to be there.
