Q: When should I replace my shoes? A: Generally footwear is designed to last 6 months to a year, but after that the cushioning can start to disintergrate even if you don't notice it. Your shoes might still feel okay but you will notice that your feet start to ache at the end of the day.
Q: Mesh, leather or synthetic shoes? A: Running shoes need to be mesh to lighten the shoe and let it breathe more. Sometimes it's difficult to tell whether shoes are leather or synthetic. There are still quite a few leather shoes available, and several with leather/synthetic mix. Generally leather and synthetic shoes can be more durable, better for outside wear and winter months. The synthetics vary in quality too. For example, some of the most expensive football boots ($300+) are synthetic and they have to take a lot of wear and tear.
Q: What do I look for in a sports shoe? Exercise, gym, running and even walking produces produces a huge impact on your feet. A shoe can have structured support, cushioning or both. Sometimes a very cushioned shoe is not good for running, and sometimes a good structured running shoe may feel firm under your feet. Netball or tennis has a lot of sideways movement meaning running shoes are not recommended. |
